Barbican vDoS - CyberWarfare Defense against the content compromises: Virii, Trojans, Worms, and other MalWare
The intellectual property of this product is globally protected.
The last form of the "triumvirate" of creating Denial-of-Service conditions is the embedded Malware content in the forms of Virii, Trojans, Worms, etc. - transported by Spam (eDoS), it compromises computer systems, which then in turn launch direct, distributed Denial-of-Service (dDoS) attacks and distribute more Spam e-Mail, thus infecting and compromising even more systems.
So far, the common approach to defend against the virus threat is to capture a new virus, develop an anti-dote to detect a virus in transit by comparison with its signature and to try to remove a virus infection after it has successfully compromised a system. This anti-dote is then attempted to deliver to millions of computers (the client has to initiate the request to download) to enable the comparison for virus detection. This process takes minimally three days to develop, and the available anti-dote download is at best performed by 70% of the subscribed user base.
This defense is re-active, and addresses only "known" forms of virus attacks. There is currently no defense against new and slightly varied virus attacks (i.e. "unknown").
Virus attacks have caused significant damages. Prior to the development of their anti-dotes, infections from virii such as "NIMDA", "Melissa", "I Love You" (infected 45 million computers in over 10,000 companies), "Code Red", "SirCam" are estimated to have caused in excess of $100 billion in financial losses.
This defense approach leaves all (sic!) systems completely unprotected against "zero-day" attacks (which cause the greatest damage), and, due to the implementation timeframe to disseminate signature-based defenses ("libraries") and the low success rate of the dissemination.
Barbican vDoS, based on the same core architecture as the Barbican RNP (dDoS & PenTest defense) and Barbican eDoS (Spam & Phish defense), is the ideal defense solution with the ability to inspect packet payload in real-time and determine if the content is "good" (i.e. virus-free) or "bad" (i.e. containing a virus, trojan, worm, or other malware meeting Melior's specifications), and dropping the "bad" packets while allowing the "good" packets through.
With the proven success of the Barbican RNP dDoS and PenTest defense, and the upcoming Barbican eDoS product, defending against Spam and Phishing with at least 98% success rate and without any false positives, Barbican vDoS promises to revolutionize the anti-Virus defense options, to include for the first time a signature-free and real-time "zero-day" defense.
